Comparison of the Juvenile Salmonid Acoustic Tag System (JSATS) with Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) Tags

The objective of this project was to compare relative performance of juvenile salmonids tagged with the Juvenile Salmonid Acoustic Tag System (JSATS) acoustic transmitter to those tagged with passive integrated transponder (PIT) tags to determine if the acoustic transmitters can attain an unbiased assessment of survival and behavoir. The study was conducted under both laboratory and field settings.
