Yakima Screen Evaluation

PNNL has developed an efficient and effective evaluation system for determining whether fish passage structures are designed, built, operated, and maintained to provide for safe fish passage. A combination of water velocity measurements, underwater video examinations and site overview are used to determine whether a particular site is within criteria.

Our work provided the client with an accounting of how well the facilities they have invested in are performing. These screen sites were constructed with funds from BPA as a form of mitigation for damage done to fish populations by the development of the federal hydropower system.
