Dr. Patton’s work includes nuclear non-proliferation activities, including implementation and deployment of radiation detection equipment with foreign partners, research projects, directing sustainable operations, assisting in international workshops and training activities to support NNSA Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD) efforts to interdict trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive materials at international border crossings. Previous research included the collection and analysis of trace contaminants (chemical and radionuclides) in the environment, with special interests in the development of ambient air monitoring networks, long range transport and fate of persistent pollutants, and environmental monitoring in freshwater ecosystems.
